Algivon Plus Manuka Honey Alginate Dressing 5cm x 5cm

Algivon Plus is a soft alginate wound dressing impregnated with 100% medical grade Manuka honey. Reinforced alginate fibres enable a sustained, slow release of honey, maintaining dressing integrity while creating a moist healing environment. It effectively eliminates wound odour and delivers continuous antibacterial action.

Indications

Suitable for use on any wound, particularly:

  • Pressure ulcers
  • Leg ulcers
  • Diabetic ulcers
  • Surgical wounds
  • Burns and graft sites
  • Infected wounds

Instructions for Use

  1. Clean the wound thoroughly
  2. Gently dry the surrounding skin
  3. Remove dressing from packaging
  4. Place either side down onto the wound surface
  5. Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing
  6. Store at room temperature

Frequency of Change

Depending on exudate levels, the dressing may be changed daily or left in place for up to 7 days. Change when the dressing colour changes significantly, indicating honey dilution. Algivon Plus is particularly suited to wetter wounds due to its exudate-absorbing capacity.

Contra-indications

  • Do not use if allergic to bee venom
  • Monitor blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes (honey is not absorbed into the bloodstream)
  • Initial discomfort may occur — if it persists, discontinue use and irrigate with saline solution
