How it Works

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Ametop better than Emla?
Both products are effective topical anaesthetics, but they contain different active ingredients. Ametop contains tetracaine and may work slightly faster, typically within 45–60 minutes, while Emla (lidocaine/prilocaine) usually requires 60 minutes or longer to achieve full effect. The most suitable option will depend on the procedure and individual needs, so always follow the advice of your healthcare professional.
Can I use Ametop on broken skin?
No. Ametop Gel should only be applied to healthy, intact skin. Avoid using it on cuts, grazes, rashes, or near sensitive areas such as the eyes, ears, and mouth.
Are there any side effects?
A mild redness at the application site is common and usually temporary, caused by increased blood flow to the area. However, if severe itching, blistering, swelling, or a rash develops, remove the gel immediately and seek medical advice.
