AQUACEL Ag+ Extra is an advanced antimicrobial primary wound dressing combining Hydrofiber® Technology with ionic silver and an antibiofilm formulation. Comprising two stitch-bonded layers of Hydrofiber®, it is 9x stronger and 50% more absorbent than standard AQUACEL Ag dressing — making it ideal for moderately to heavily exuding wounds where infection or biofilm is a concern.

How It Works

• On contact with wound fluid, the Hydrofiber® fibres gel and swell, locking exudate and bacteria away from the wound by vertical wicking
• Ionic silver within the dressing kills a broad spectrum of wound pathogens — including MRSA, VRE, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa
• Targets the three key local barriers to healing: exudate, infection, and biofilm
• Cohesive gel allows easy, atraumatic removal with minimal disruption to the wound bed

Indications

For moderately to heavily exuding wounds with infection or increased risk of infection:

• Chronic wounds: leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, fungating lesions
• Acute wounds: post-surgical wounds, abrasions, lacerations, partial thickness burns
• Other applications: excised abscesses, pilonidal cysts, cavity wounds, sinus tracts, suture lines, pin/tube sites, burns

How to Apply

• Cleanse the wound with saline and dry the surrounding skin
• Apply directly onto the wound with at least 1cm overlap onto surrounding skin
• For cavity wounds, loosely pack to approximately 80% capacity, leaving at least 2.5cm outside the wound for retrieval
• Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing
