BENYLIN Day & Night Tablets

BENYLIN Day & Night Tablets provide around-the-clock relief from cold and flu symptoms. The white day tablets contain paracetamol for pain and fever and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride to help clear a blocked nose. The blue night tablets contain paracetamol and diphenhydramine hydrochloride, an antihistamine that may cause drowsiness and help you rest.

Active ingredients

• Day white tablets: Paracetamol 500 mg and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 60 mg
• Night blue tablets: Paracetamol 500 mg and diphenhydramine hydrochloride 25mg

How to use

For adults and children aged 12 years and over. Take only one tablet at a time and swallow it whole with water.

• Daytime: Take 1 white tablet in the morning, at midday and in the afternoon, leaving 4 to 6 hours between doses. Take no more than 3 day tablets in 24 hours.
• Night-time: Take 1 blue tablet at night. Do not take night tablets during the day.

Do not exceed the stated dose. Not suitable for children under 12.

Who should not use it

Do not use if you are allergic to paracetamol, pseudoephedrine, diphenhydramine or any other ingredient. Do not use if you have high blood pressure or heart disease, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, phaeochromocytoma, severe kidney problems, or lung or breathing problems.

Do not use if you take, or have taken within the last 2 weeks, an MAOI antidepressant.

Warnings and precautions

• Contains paracetamol. Do not take with any other paracetamol-containing medicine because of the risk of liver damage.
• Night tablets cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery after taking them, and avoid alcohol.
• Ask your pharmacist before use if you have an enlarged prostate or take other medicines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless your doctor advises it.

Possible side effects

Pseudoephedrine may cause a faster heartbeat, restlessness or difficulty sleeping. Diphenhydramine may cause drowsiness, dry mouth or blurred vision. Rarely, allergic reactions can occur.
