Benylin Mucus Cough Honey & Lemon Syrup is an expectorant cough medicine containing Guaifenesin 100mg per 5ml, formulated for the symptomatic relief of productive, chesty coughs. Guaifenesin works by loosening and thinning mucus (phlegm) in the chest, making it easier to cough up and clear the airways. The clear yellow-brown syrup has a pleasant honey and lemon flavour with a warming sensation in the throat.

Suitable for adults, adolescents and children from 6 years of age, with age-appropriate dosing.

How to Use

For oral use only.

• Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over: Take 10ml four times daily. Maintain a minimum interval of 4 hours between doses. Do not exceed 40ml in 24 hours.
• Children aged 6–12 years: Take 5ml four times daily, maintaining a minimum interval of 4 hours between doses. Do not exceed 20ml in 24 hours.

Do not use in children aged 2–5 years. Contraindicated in children under 2 years. Do not exceed the recommended dose. If the cough worsens or has not improved within 7 days, seek medical advice.

Suitable For

Ideal for the symptomatic treatment of a productive or mucus cough where phlegm has accumulated in the chest and needs to be loosened to make it easier to cough up. Indicated for adults, adolescents and children from 6 years of age.

Warnings

• Do not exceed the recommended dose. Do not take if allergic to guaifenesin or any other ingredient.
• Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have had a cough for more than one week, a recurrent cough, or a cough accompanied by fever, rash or persistent headache.
• Seek advice for a persistent cough associated with asthma, a cough producing a large amount of phlegm, or if you have severe liver or kidney problems.
• Not recommended to combine with cough suppressants (antitussives) without appropriate advice, as suppressing the cough may interfere with clearance of loosened mucus.
• Contains ethanol, glucose and sucrose — consider where clinically relevant.
