Calpol Infant 120mg/5ml Oral Suspension is a strawberry-flavoured paracetamol suspension formulated to provide relief from pain and fever in babies and young children. Key Ingredient

Paracetamol 120mg/5ml – Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic. It helps relieve pain while also lowering a raised temperature associated with fever. Each 5ml of Calpol Infant Oral Suspension provides 120mg of paracetamol.

How to Use

• Shake the bottle for at least 10 seconds before use.
• Measure doses carefully using the supplied oral syringe.
• Babies aged 2–3 months: For post-vaccination fever, give 2.5ml. If necessary, a second 2.5ml dose may be given after 4–6 hours. For other causes of pain and fever at this age, the baby must weigh over 4kg and have been born after 37 weeks. Do not give more than 2 doses unless advised by a doctor or nurse.
• For older babies and children, use the age-specific dose stated on the current bottle and Patient Information Leaflet.
• Leave at least 4 hours between doses and never exceed the recommended number of doses.
• Do not give to babies under 2 months of age.

Ingredients

Each 5ml contains: Paracetamol 120mg.

The current standard formulation also contains excipients including sucrose, sorbitol liquid (E420), propylene glycol (E1520), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), ethyl parahydroxybenzoate (E214), sodium, carmoisine (E122) and a very small quantity of ethanol, alongside other formulation ingredients.

Suitable For

Suitable for babies and children for the short-term treatment of pain, including teething pain, and fever, subject to age-specific dosing instructions. For babies aged 2–3 months, special dosing restrictions apply. Babies under 2 months should not be given this product.

Warnings

• Contains paracetamol. Do not give with any other medicine containing paracetamol.
• Do not give to babies under 2 months of age.

• Seek immediate medical advice in the event of an overdose, even if the child appears well — excessive paracetamol can cause delayed, serious liver damage.
