How Purple Reveal Works

The purple toothpaste uses optical colour correction rather than permanently bleaching the teeth. Purple sits opposite yellow in colour theory, so the pigments temporarily neutralise the appearance of yellow tones on the tooth surface. This creates an immediate brighter and whiter-looking effect, but this instant effect is temporary.

Alongside the optical effect, Hydrated Silica helps clean and polish away surface staining. With continued brushing, Colgate states that the formula can remove up to 100% of surface stains after two weeks. It will not change the underlying natural colour of the tooth in the same way as peroxide-based professional bleaching.
