Sorbact® Surgical Dressing
Bacteria and fungi binding wound dressing
Sorbact® Surgical Dressing is a bacteria- and fungi-binding wound dressing based on Sorbact® Technology. It is designed to reduce wound bioburden without releasing chemically active antimicrobial agents. The dressing supports optimal wound healing by binding microorganisms through hydrophobic interaction, thereby preventing infection and biofilm formation.
The dressing consists of a DACC-coated Sorbact® wound contact layer, an absorbent pad, and a transparent, water-repellent backing film with acrylic adhesive. The backing film is shower-proof and bacteria-proof, protecting the wound from external contamination while allowing excess moisture to evaporate.

Effective against multi-resistant microorganisms
Prevents biofilm formation
Reduces bioburden in dry to low and heavily exuding wounds
Superabsorbent core for excellent exudate management
Creates and maintains a moist wound environment
Minimises maceration
No release of endotoxins
No known development of microbial resistance
No known side effects or allergy risks
No cell death

Material & Design
Acetate mesh wound contact layer with bacteria-binding (DACC) coating
Superabsorbent core (Cutimed® Sorbion® Sorbact®)
Water-repellent, transparent top layer
Acrylic adhesive border
Indications for Use
Heavily to excessively exuding wounds
Infected wounds
Postoperative wounds
Traumatic wounds
Mode of Action
Sorbact® Surgical Dressing works through hydrophobic interaction, physically binding microorganisms to the dressing surface. This reduces microbial load without killing cells, thereby avoiding the release of toxins and reducing the risk of resistance.
