Easofen for Children Strawberry 100mg/5ml Oral Suspension is a strawberry-flavoured ibuprofen suspension formulated to provide relief from pain and fever in babies and children from 3 months of age. Each 5ml contains Ibuprofen 100mg, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties. The formulation is sugar-free and colour-free and is supplied with an oral syringe for accurate dosing.

Key Ingredient

Ibuprofen 100mg/5ml – Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces pain, inflammation and fever. Each 5ml of Easofen for Children provides 100mg of ibuprofen.

How to Use

• For oral use. Use the supplied syringe to measure each dose accurately.
• Leave at least 6 hours between doses.
• Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to relieve symptoms.
• Infants aged 3–5 months: Seek medical advice if symptoms worsen or have not improved within 24 hours.
• Children aged 6 months and over: Consult a doctor if the medicine is required for more than 3 days or symptoms worsen.

Ingredients

Each 5ml contains: Ibuprofen 100mg.

Other ingredients include maltitol liquid, citric acid anhydrous, sodium citrate, sodium benzoate (E211), sodium chloride, sodium saccharin, hypromellose, xanthan gum, glycerol (E422), strawberry flavour and purified water. The strawberry flavour contains natural flavouring preparations, maize maltodextrin, triethyl citrate (E1505), propylene glycol (E1520) and benzyl alcohol.

The product contains 2.5g maltitol liquid and 17.92mg sodium per 5ml.

Suitable For

Suitable for babies, infants and children aged 3 months to 12 years for short-term relief of mild to moderate pain and fever. Babies aged 3–6 months must weigh more than 5kg. Do not give to babies under 3 months of age or weighing less than 5kg.

Warnings

• Do not give to babies under 3 months of age or babies weighing less than 5kg.
• For babies aged 3–6 months, only use where the infant weighs more than 5kg.
• Do not use if the child is allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin, other NSAIDs or any of the ingredients, or has previously experienced wheezing, breathing difficulties, swelling, runny nose or a skin reaction after taking aspirin or another NSAID.
• Do not give if the child has a history of recurrent stomach ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding, severe kidney, liver or heart failure, severe dehydration, certain blood-clotting disorders, or is already taking another NSAID painkiller.
• Extra caution is required in children with asthma, particularly where symptoms have previously been triggered by aspirin or NSAIDs.
• Ibuprofen should generally be avoided during chickenpox (varicella).
• Ensure the child remains adequately hydrated, particularly during illnesses involving vomiting or diarrhoea — dehydrated children have an increased risk of kidney problems with ibuprofen.
• Do not exceed the stated dose. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time.
• Seek medical advice if symptoms persist or worsen.
• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
