Exterol 5% w/w Ear Drops 8ml

Exterol is a non-prescription, pharmacy-only ear drop medicine containing urea hydrogen peroxide 5% w/w. It helps soften and break down hardened earwax by releasing oxygen within the wax, breaking it into smaller pieces so it can clear from the ear canal more easily — relieving the fullness, muffled hearing and discomfort that blocked ears can cause.

How to Use

1. Tilt the head and gently instil up to 5 drops into the affected ear.
2. Keep the head tilted for several minutes to retain the drops.
3. Wipe away any surplus with a tissue.
4. Repeat once or twice daily for at least 3–4 days, or as directed by a doctor.

Do not plug the ear with loose cotton wool after applying. If hardened wax remains despite treatment, ask a doctor, nurse or pharmacist for advice.

A temporary bubbling sensation may occur as the drops act on the earwax — this is normal. Symptoms may occasionally appear slightly worse initially as the wax softens.

Do Not Use If You Have

• A known or suspected damaged or perforated eardrum
• Dizziness, ear pain, discharge, inflammation, infection or tinnitus
• A history of ear problems (unless a doctor advises otherwise)

Important Information

• Do not use immediately following ear syringing or after attempting to remove wax with cotton buds, fingernails or other implements.
• Do not use at the same time as another topical ear preparation.
• If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a pharmacist, GP or ENT specialist.
• Keep out of reach of children.
