Ferrograd C is a high-potency iron supplement used to prevent and treat iron-deficiency anaemia and vitamin C deficiency when both occur together. Unlike standard supplements, it is specifically designed for cases where iron stores have been depleted due to diet, blood loss (such as menstruation), or poor absorption.
How It Works
At the heart of Ferrograd C is the unique Gradumet controlled-release system. The iron is housed within a harmless plastic honeycomb matrix, which releases iron slowly as the tablet passes through the stomach and gut over several hours. This gradual release reduces the stomach irritation commonly associated with standard iron tablets.
Ferrograd C also contains 500mg of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), which helps the body absorb iron more effectively, ensuring maximum benefit from every dose.
Key Benefits
- Prevention and treatment of iron-deficiency anaemia
- Simultaneous treatment of Vitamin C deficiency

- Swallow whole with water — do not suck, chew, or keep in the mouth (can cause mouth ulcers and tooth discolouration)
- Do not exceed the stated dose
- Not recommended for children under 12 years of age
Important Safety Information
- Should only be used for iron-deficiency anaemia diagnosed by laboratory testing under medical supervision
- Do not take during the first 13 weeks of pregnancy; consult your doctor after this period
- Wait at least 2–3 hours between taking Ferrograd C and other medications (antibiotics, antacids) or consuming tea, coffee, eggs, milk, or whole-grain cereals, as these can reduce iron absorption
- Contains iron. Keep out of the reach and sight of children — overdose may be fatal.
Our pharmacist recommends Ferrograd C where optimal iron absorption is required, as the added vitamin C increases uptake by the body. It should not be taken at the same time as dairy products as this reduces absorption,
