Gaviscon Advance Aniseed Oral Suspension is a reflux-suppressing medicine for the treatment of acid reflux, heartburn and indigestion associated with reflux. It forms a protective layer that floats on top of the stomach contents, helping prevent acid from travelling back into the oesophagus. The extra-strength alginate formulation provides rapid relief that can last for up to 4 hours.

Active Ingredients

Each 5ml contains:

• Sodium Alginate 500mg – Forms a protective raft over the stomach contents to help prevent acid reflux.
• Potassium Hydrogen Carbonate 100mg – Contributes to the formation of the reflux-suppressing raft.

Each 10ml dose therefore contains 1000mg sodium alginate and 200mg potassium hydrogen carbonate.

How to Use

• Shake the bottle well before use.
• Adults and children aged 12 years and over: Take 5–10ml after meals and at bedtime.
• Children under 12 years: Give only on medical advice.
• If symptoms persist or worsen after 7 days, seek medical advice.

Ingredients

Active ingredients: Sodium Alginate 500mg and Potassium Hydrogen Carbonate 100mg per 5ml.

Other ingredients include calcium carbonate, carbomer, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), sodium saccharin, sodium hydroxide, aniseed flavour derived from fennel and purified water.

Contains no sugar or gluten.

Suitable for adults and children aged 12 years and over for the treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux, heartburn, acid regurgitation and reflux-related indigestion. Can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Children under 12 years should only use on medical advice.

• Gaviscon Advance has a relatively high sodium content — each 5ml contains 57.85mg sodium. Patients advised to follow a low-sodium diet, particularly those requiring regular or prolonged treatment, should discuss use with their doctor or pharmacist.
• Do not take if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
• Contains methyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoates (E218, E216), which may cause allergic reactions.
• If symptoms have not improved after 7 days, seek medical advice.
• Intended for short-term treatment unless otherwise advised by a healthcare professional.
