Gaviscon Extra Oral Suspension Peppermint Flavour is a dual-action treatment for heartburn, acid reflux and indigestion. It combines antacids that neutralise excess stomach acid with sodium alginate, which forms a protective layer over the stomach contents to help reduce reflux into the oesophagus. It gets to work rapidly and can provide relief for up to 4 hours.

Active Ingredients

Each 10ml contains:

• Sodium Alginate 500mg – Forms a protective raft over the stomach contents to help reduce reflux.
• Sodium Bicarbonate 213mg – An antacid that helps neutralise excess stomach acid.
• Calcium Carbonate 325mg – Provides additional acid-neutralising action.

How to Use

• Shake the bottle well before use.
• Adults, including the elderly, and children aged 12 years and over: Take 10–20ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times daily.
• Children under 12 years: Use only on medical advice.
• If symptoms persist after 7 days, seek medical advice.

Warnings

• Gaviscon Extra is high in sodium and also contains calcium. Patients advised to follow a sodium- or calcium-restricted diet should seek medical advice before use.
• Contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), which may cause allergic reactions.
• Patients over 40 experiencing heartburn or acid indigestion for the first time should consult a doctor.
• Once opened, use within 6 months.
• Do not store above 30°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze.
• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
