Phenergan Oral Solution contains promethazine hydrochloride 5mg/5ml, an antihistamine used to relieve allergic reactions, hay fever, itchy skin rashes (such as hives), and travel sickness. It also has calming properties that can ease restlessness, nausea, and mild trouble sleeping caused by allergies or discomfort.

How Phenergan Works

Allergy relief: Blocks histamine to treat hay fever and skin rashes.

Dosage
For Allergic Conditions (Hay Fever, Rashes, Hives):

Adults (including elderly): 25mg (five 5ml spoonfuls) once daily at bedtime. May be increased to 25mg three times daily if required.

Children 6–10 years: 10mg–25mg at bedtime, OR 5mg–10mg twice daily. Maximum 25mg per day.
For Travel Sickness:

Adults (including elderly): 25mg the night before travel. May be repeated after 6–8 hours if required.

Children 6–10 years: 10mg the night before travel. May be repeated after 6–8 hours if required.
Always use a 5ml medicinal spoon for accurate measurement. Do not exceed the stated dose or use for more than 7 days without pharmacist or GP advice.
Who Should Not Take Phenergan
- Children under 6 years of age.
- Those allergic to promethazine or any listed ingredient.
- Those who have taken MAOIs (antidepressants) within the past 14 days.
- Those with asthma, epilepsy, heart problems, or severe liver/kidney disease.
- During pregnancy or breastfeeding, unless advised by a doctor.
Important Information
- May cause drowsiness — do not drive or operate machinery if affected.
- Avoid alcohol during treatment.
- Can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight — avoid prolonged sun exposure.
- Consult your pharmacist or GP before use if taking other medications.
Possible Side Effects

Common: Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, mild stomach upset.
