Directions For Use

Adults, including the elderly and children over 12: One to two 5ml spoonfuls taken at bedtime.

Children aged 6–12 years (under medical advice only): One 5ml spoonful.

Children aged 2–6 years (under medical advice only): Half to one 5ml spoonful in 24 hours.
Adults should take as a single dose at bedtime. Children should take in the morning. Normally sufficient to take up to two or three times a week. Use for more than 1–2 weeks requires medical supervision.
Active Ingredients
Each 5ml of Senokot Syrup contains:
- Calcium sennosides equivalent to 7.5mg per 5ml total sennosides (calculated as sennoside B)
- Ethanol (present in Prune Flavouring) — 6.9mg/5ml
- Methyl Parahydroxybenzoate — 9mg/5ml
- Propyl Parahydroxybenzoate — 2mg/5ml
- Maltitol liquid — 1.5g/5ml
Other excipients: Potassium sorbate (E202), Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), Propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), Maltitol liquid (E965), Xanthan gum, Anti-foam (Medical C) emulsion, Prune flavour (ethanol), Citric acid anhydrous, Purified water.
Warnings
- Keep out of reach and sight of children.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
- Do not use if you are allergic or have a hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
- Not to be used by children under 12 without medical advice.
- Should not be given when any undiagnosed acute or persistent abdominal symptoms are present.
- If there is no bowel movement after three days, consult a doctor.
- If laxatives are needed for more than 5 days in a row or abdominal pain persists, consult a doctor.
- Long-term use of laxatives should be avoided. If stimulant laxatives are taken for longer than a brief period, this may lead to impaired intestinal function and laxative dependence.
