Senokot 7.5mg Tablets are a stimulant laxative containing naturally derived senna for the short-term relief of occasional constipation. Senna stimulates the muscles of the bowel, helping move stools through the intestine. The manufacturer states Senokot typically works within 8–12 hours, making bedtime dosing convenient for morning relief.

Adults, elderly and children aged 12 years and over: Take 2–4 tablets at night, swallowed orally. Do not exceed the stated dose.
Not suitable for children under 12 years.
If there has been no bowel movement after three days of treatment, consult a doctor or other healthcare professional. Senna should not be required every day — persistent constipation should be investigated rather than treated continuously with stimulant laxatives.

Do not take Senokot if you have an intestinal obstruction or narrowing, bowel atony, symptoms of appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis), severe dehydration, or if you have already taken another laxative and remain constipated.
Seek professional advice if you experience unexplained abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting, rectal bleeding, blood in the stool, or a sudden change in bowel habits lasting more than two weeks.
Long-term or excessive stimulant-laxative use should be avoided as it can cause fluid and electrolyte disturbances and interfere with normal bowel function. Senokot does not reduce calorie absorption and should not be used for weight loss.
