Solpa-Extra Soluble Tablets 500mg/65mg

A fast-dissolving paracetamol and caffeine tablet for mild to moderate pain — including headache, migraine, backache, toothache and period pain — plus the aches and fever of colds and flu.

Solpa-Extra pairs paracetamol with caffeine in an effervescent formula that dissolves in water. Paracetamol is a well-established pain and fever treatment, and adding caffeine boosts its pain-relieving effect — together they offer fast, effective relief from a wide range of everyday pain, including headache and migraine (with or without aura).

Beyond headaches, Solpa-Extra can help with backache, muscle and joint pain, toothache, period pain, neuralgia, sore throat, and the aches, pains and fever that come with colds and flu. Because the tablets dissolve fully in water before you drink them, they’re absorbed quickly — a useful option when you want relief to kick in sooner rather than later.

  • Paracetamol 500mg with caffeine 65mg per tablet
  • Relieves mild to moderate pain and lowers fever

Active Ingredients

Each soluble tablet contains paracetamol 500mg and caffeine 65mg. Also contains 427mg sodium per tablet and sorbitol (E420), a source of fructose, plus sodium hydrogen carbonate, saccharin sodium, sodium laurilsulfate, citric acid anhydrous, sodium carbonate anhydrous, povidone K25 and dimeticone.

Safety Information

Do not use if you are:

  • Allergic to paracetamol, caffeine or any other ingredient
  • Taking another paracetamol-containing medicine
  • Under 12 years of age
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding (due to the caffeine content)

Warnings & Precautions

  • Speak to a doctor or pharmacist first if you have liver or kidney problems, aspirin-sensitive asthma, Gilbert’s syndrome, or if you are dehydrated, malnourished, or weigh under 50kg.
  • Each tablet contains 427mg sodium — relevant if you’re on a low-salt diet.
  • Avoid other sources of caffeine (tea, coffee, energy drinks) while taking it.
  • Tell your doctor if you’re taking flucloxacillin, as combining it with paracetamol carries a risk of a serious blood and fluid condition (metabolic acidosis).

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding because of the caffeine content. Ask a doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Possible Side Effects
Side effects are uncommon. Too much caffeine can cause difficulty sleeping, restlessness or a faster heartbeat. Stop use and seek urgent medical advice if you notice an allergic reaction (rash, itching, facial or mouth swelling, breathing difficulty), skin peeling, mouth ulcers, or unexplained bruising or bleeding.

Who Can Use Solpa-Extra?

Suitable for adults and children over 12 years old. You must be at least 18 to purchase this product.

FAQs

Does Solpa-Extra work faster than standard paracetamol tablets?
Because it’s a soluble tablet dissolved in water before drinking, it can be absorbed more quickly than a standard swallowed tablet.

Can I take Solpa-Extra with tea or coffee?
It’s best to limit other caffeine sources while taking it, since Solpa-Extra already contains caffeine and combining the two can increase the risk of side effects like restlessness or difficulty sleeping.

Is Solpa-Extra suitable in pregnancy?
No — it’s not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding because of its caffeine content. Speak to a doctor or pharmacist for alternatives.

Can children take Solpa-Extra?
It’s suitable for children aged 12 and over at a reduced dose. It’s not suitable for children under 12.

Always read the label and patient information leaflet before use. If symptoms persist, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
