PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
What Is Vermox?
Vermox Tablets contain 100mg of Mebendazole, a trusted anthelmintic medicine used to treat common gastrointestinal worm infections. Vermox works by preventing worms from absorbing the sugars they need to survive — without this energy source, the worms die and are naturally eliminated from the body.
It's suitable for adults and children over 2 years of age, and provides a fast, effective, single-dose treatment for threadworm (pinworm) — the most common worm infection in Ireland and the UK. It can also treat a range of other intestinal worm infections at different doses, as advised by your pharmacist.
Important: Treat the Whole Household
Threadworms are highly contagious and spread easily between family members — often before anyone notices symptoms. Our pharmacists recommend treating everyone in the household at the same time, even those without symptoms, to fully break the cycle of reinfection.

Dosing can vary depending on the specific infection. Always follow the patient information leaflet or your pharmacist's advice. [→ Read the full Patient Information Leaflet]

PHARMACIST'S NOTE
"Threadworm is one of the most common infections we see, particularly in school-age children — and the most frequent mistake families make is only treating the child who's showing symptoms. Because threadworms spread so easily, we always recommend treating the whole household together. A single dose of Vermox is usually all it takes, but don't be surprised if we suggest a second dose two weeks later as a precaution against reinfection."

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need a prescription for Vermox?
No. Vermox is a Pharmacy (P) Medicine, which means you can buy it without a prescription. It is dispensed under the supervision of our registered pharmacist, who is available to answer any questions about your order.
How quickly does Vermox work?
A single dose starts working quickly to kill threadworms, but it can take a few days for symptoms like itching to fully settle as the worms are cleared from the body. If symptoms persist beyond a week, contact your pharmacist.
Should I treat my whole family, or just the person with symptoms?
We strongly recommend treating everyone in the household at the same time, even if only one person has symptoms. Threadworm spreads very easily between family members, often without obvious signs, so treating only one person frequently leads to reinfection.
Do I need a second dose?
For threadworm, many people only need one dose. However, a second dose taken 2 weeks later is commonly recommended as threadworm eggs can survive in the environment (bedding, clothing, surfaces) for up to two weeks and cause reinfection.
Can my child take Vermox?
Yes, Vermox tablets are suitable for children over 2 years of age. For children under 2, or if your child has difficulty with chewable tablets, ask us about Vermox Oral Suspension instead.
Can I take Vermox if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Vermox is not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester, unless specifically advised by your doctor. If breastfeeding, speak to our pharmacist before use, as a small amount of mebendazole can pass into breast milk.
What's the difference between the tablet and the liquid?
Both contain the same active ingredient, Mebendazole, and work the same way. The liquid suspension is often easier for younger children or anyone who struggles with chewable tablets. [→ Shop Vermox Liquid]
Will my order be discreet?
Yes, all orders are dispatched in plain, discreet packaging.
